Sea Cadets is a youth organisation for teenagers aged 13 years and over.
In all our cadets we try to foster strong leadership skills and a real sense of citizenship. We provide a disciplined environment for cadets to learn in but we place a lot of importance on having fun and providing young people with as many opportunities as possible.

The New Zealand Cadet Forces is comprised of the Sea Cadet Corps, the New Zealand Cadet Corps and the Air Training Corps.
It is a voluntary, disciplined, uniformed training organisation for youth.
The organisation is not part of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) but is controlled by the NZDF and is supported in partnership by the government, through the NZDF and the community.
Training programmes emphasis personnel development. The organisation offers a quality, nationally coordinated training programme. |
- Foster a spirit of adventure and teamwork, and develop those qualities of mind and body essential for good citizens and leaders;
- Provide challenging and disciplined training activities that will be useful in either service or civilian life; and
- Promote an awareness of the armed forces and the role they play in the community.
What do we teach the cadets?
We run activities including sailing, rowing, rifle shooting, kayaking, camping, competitions, first aid, ropework, drill, naval ship visits, overseas exchanges and team building exercises.

After a rigorous selection process the Chief of Navy has awarded his 2011 Scholarships to Master Cadet Olivia Stacey from T.S. LEANDER in Devonport and Master Cadet Megan Parr of T.S. DIOMEDE in Whangarei. Olivia is studying for a Bachelor of Applied Science (Biodiversity Management). The value of the Chief of Navy Scholarship is $6,000 and this amount has been split equally between the two senior Sea Cadets.

So here it is, the NEW website! It is now running with a content management system that is meant to make it easier to manage the website and create new content such as articles of interest and latest news. There is a section to the right called "The C.O. says..." - This is a newsflash type thing, used to alert you to the latest information you need to know. I will be "Training" our Commanding Officer in good time as to it's use... Ma'am, if you are reading this... Don't be scared! It is REALLY EASY!
There is now a login function. You can create your account, using your real name where is says "Name" and you can use anything you want as a username... The reason behind this is so that you will be able to receive the appropriate access level for your rank. There are certain files that are available to the general public, and still other files that are available only to registered account holders. As your rank increases, so does access."With greater access comes greater responsibility!"
